Rayne Mini (just in!)

I found a cool thread on the fish about a new Rayne board coming out! Right now they're only selling at the factory in Canada I think. Here's some pics courtesy of 2011 Rayne Mini Facebook page:

concave shot (sorta)

in comparison to nemesis

The specs are:

Length: 24 inches
Width: 8.5 inches
Wheelbase: 19.5 inches

I heard these decks are just chopped factory botches, but who cares! they're still pretty awesome!

Here's a video of Reese Boykin (?) being a boss on the new deck.

Misc. Post Huzzah

Hi all,

I've been looking at bushings lately. Thanks to motionboardshop's nifty bushing selector, I think I've found a good setup. I'm thinking of Venom Super Carves 81a on the roadside, and Venom Barrels SHR 80a boardside. I'm not 100% on them yet, I dunno haha.

I've been watching Greener Pastures on da 'tube recently. I like it a bunch. Here's the latest vid ep 4:

I found a prototype pic of the 2012 wolfshark graphic somewhere on the fish. I'll have to dig through threads to find it again. It was pretty cool.

I'm still stoked about my board coming in the mail. I think it's supposed to come tomorrow-ish. I won't open it until the day of x-mas though haha. I've been doing a buncha christmas shopping with dad for my mom.

Exams in school are almost over, which = more longboard time which is good. Over the break KP and I are gonna bomb tons of hills! I can't wait.

The Good and the Evil

Today was a pretty good day. KP and I went skateboarding thru the 'hood and cruised a bit.

We also went looking for some good hills when a tragedy happened. ---- So we're just cruising down a mid slope, we see some bird turd on the sidewalk. Turning away from the turd, next thing I know, I hear screeching and scraping and my board is at a weird angle. I hit a dead stop. I look back and see an Orange 4Prez flying through the air. Apparently, my wheel randomly decided to go on vacation and left me with a useless board. Thankfully, I didn't get hurt and I found my wheel. Sadly, I lost a speedring, bearing (sadness), and some other hardware.

I went to da Surf n Sail and he fixed it all up for 2 bucks, but I have 3 bones reds and some random blue bearing now. Odd.

I bought a cool volcom hat also, but I can't find a pic of it. If I find one I'll post it.

Probably no skateboarding tomorrow (sadness) cuz of homework. oh wellz

Christmas List

Okay, it's Christmas season. I know my mom won't buy me 60 dollar trucks, so the Gullwing Stalkers can be counted out of my list. But(a conjunction at the beginning of sentence 'cause I'm a rebel) here's my list:
P.S. I highlighted the longboarding stuff.
1. Retro ZigZags.
2.Nike Kobe 6 special edition.
3. Classic vans.
4. A bunch of hats that I don't feel like explaining.
5. Neff t-shirt.

Vacation Skateboarding

Hi it's Sensation,

I went to the Keys for a quick Thanksgiving vacation this weekend. I got in a little skateboarding but I was mainly just on the beach for like 3 days. It was great.

I'm attempting to perfect my coleman and trying to understand if standies are even possible on sidewinders. hopefully they are. I'm trying to learn how to lookback but dancing isn't really mah style. heh. not much been happening lately though. I'm beginning to break in my new 4prez. They're great and I recommend them lol.

Yah Brah Longboarding

Today was a long, hot, fun, day. KP and I skateboarded for 6 hours. It was awesome. We really got in the zone with our 180 body varials.

I made up a trick called the (sorry to offend yee irish) Irish Jig. You pretty much stand on one foot and do some air kicks with your leg. weeee

We got some combos in too.

1. cross-step

2. double 180 body varial

3. irish jig (for the win!)

4. then bring on the coleman slide

After like 5 hours in KP's neighborhood we went to my place and bombed some hills. We went down a bridge, into a beach tunnel, through mangroves, and went down a private park. By far the best was the park.

All this fun skateboarding led us to creating Yah Brah Longboarding. It's pretty much us and a few friends in a longboard crew. I'm making a sick logo that I'll post if I can figure out how to... anyone know how to use a printer to scan? nope? we might make custom hats too. dunno.

I tried the Bogart and actually felt camber. the camber surprised me lol.

well all in all pretty good day i think

Plans

Today, me and sensation are going longboarding. There is this park about twenty minutes from our houses and my mom/sensations mom will drive us there.
I'm planning on doing some serious pumping, cruising/carving, and long-distance riding. We shall see what other kind of stuff we're going to do, and I'm thinking with Asian's improved board and my board, we could do some nice riding.

Still Here

I've been sick for like a week. I got a cold on Tuesday (?) and I've been sneezing, coughing, and doing whatever else you do when you have a mega-cold. I didn't skateboard for a week either. My days pretty much had me sitting on the couch, browsing Youtube and Silverfish for hours. But, I'm happy to say I am back and am not sick anymore. yay

My birthday is coming up soon. I'm hoping to get some Otang 4prez in orange. That will probably top off my ultimate cruiser setup too! Then for christmas I'm aiming for a gopro 2 hd. Haha yeah I know high hopes but I'm crossing my fingers! Maybe if I get a camera I can shoot up some vids for you guys. I dunno... well go out and longboard haha. Madrid Boards

There is another longboard company I am stalking: Madrid.
I got this one cool pic from their website: This is the Madrid Rip38. From reviews (there are practically none) this is made of quality Canadian maple and is a great board for cruising and downhill. I'm liking this for possibly my next board.

The EW Boom

It seems like I've been doing so many posts about Earthwing boards, but what can I say, they're awesome!

The Earthwing Road Killer is one of Earthwings new-ish free-ride machines in their line-up. On the 'fish, I've heard that this thing can rival the Supermodel, too.

I really like the magazine type print for the earthwing logo. It's different and if you look closely, the g is from orangantag print, and the r is from Santa Cruz. I haven't found the other ones yet but whatever.

This new board has w concave I think (not 100% sure, better look it up) it has rocker. No camber obviously, and it clocks in at 40.5 inches long and 10 wide. It's wayyy too big for me but for a bigger guy it'd be great. Here are some links for this new thingy:

EWS(2012)

I've been doing some snooping on Silverfish, and I found out about a new Earthwing Supermodel that is supposedly coming out in 2012. It's supposed to be micro-dropped (I admit, I have no idea what that is, it sounds cool though) It's going to have a new graphic, and a new shape too.

I tried my friend's dad's Li Ka Oi or something and it was pretty cool. That board was probably 20 years old but it was pretty fun. It clocks in at like 44 inches so it was like actually surfing the pavement. weeeee....

Now, what you've all been waiting for----- a pic of the new ESW..................!?

I can't wait till this comes out! The new graphic is sweet too.

Epic Board of Epic Epicness!!!!!!!!

So

I get home yesterday to find a overly-large package which (I'm not making a story out of) obviously contained an Arbor Bogart. I rip open the package and go outside to ride it.

It felt really nice with the Gullwing Chargers but they need to be loosened. Since NordsBoards.com offers a skate tool for 10.00 I got one. I loosened up the trucks and went for a ride. I live really close to this cool park so I rode over there and went to the basketball courts. I was carving and turning and cruising and going back to my kick-tail a lot. It was awesome!

So I still loosened my trucks a bit and cleaned the board (refer to "Board Maintenance") and since I'm so protective of my board, I taped up the bottom of the tail because I scratched it up enough on the basketball courts.

Halloween of Skateboarding

i spent my Halloween skateboarding around the neighborhood. i wore my rasta wig and hunted for candy for a little while. i wasn't out long, but i think i got a pretty good haul.

it was really fun being ahead of everyone because i was on my longboard. those trusty gullwing sidewinders sure didn't let me down when i had to carve through lots of people. i was really impressed with my trucks that time. i ordered some softer bushings to see if that will help my board flex up. i dunno haha.

well kp recently got his arbor bogart in the mail, i won't say much, though. hopefully he'll post about it soon. i texted him about it and he said it was sick. time to wait for his review!

well all in all happy Halloween! don't overdose on candy!

Kracked Skulls Scimitar!

i
got into freeriding recently, and i found this cool board called the kracked skulls scimitar. It's a small company but i've only heard good things about this board. there are tons of different ways you can set it up--- grooves, flex, or quartz grip to name a few.

without bearings or wheels the setup i liked on it was only 156 bucks! and here's a lil' discount code i found for y'all at silverfish.

kscrazy

that little piece of magic takes 5% off of your total cost at checkout. pretty nice haha. maybe i can pick up this board for x-mas or something... who knows?

i also heard that it rivals the dervish (dunno if this is true). it must be pretty decent if it does that right? people also recommend this board for freeride/crusing or carving.

pic courtesy of kracked skulls website!

have fun with this board!

Deck Maintenence

With many Sector9 minis, bamboos, Loaded, and most longer boards there is a clear, spray-on grip-tape. As some may know from experience this stuff is great and looks awesome however, sucks in the maintenance field. If you are one of those people that is ripping their hair out trying to clean it, here are some tips:
  • Get a toothbrush you never use and some "409 all purpose cleaner"
  • Spray the 409 on the board and gently scrub it with a toothbrush.
  • When you are done scrubbing turn on a hose and put pressure to wash of the deck.
Make sure not to spray the trucks or bearings and dry off the board so the wood does not rot.

Gullwing part 3

Cont. This is my final Gullwing post. The first truck of this post is the Shadow DLX. These trucks are very durable mainly for street riding. With these trucks you can ride with ease while cruising and downhilling in the street. These are very similar to chargers but these are a little more durable and easy to care for.

This next truck is called the "Munkae" and I am sorry to say that I do not know how to pronounce it. This is a Gullwing-Munkae collaboration. The bushings in these things are incredible. With the symmetrical shape, the trucks are good for downhill and freeeride.

The final model of Gullwing is the "Stalker". This truck is for serious street riders. It has a rubber coating over the hangar for absorbing vibration from rough streets. These are great for downhill, freeride, and cruising.

Gullwing part 2

Cont. The 3rd truck from Gullwing is the "Charger", as you know, my all time favorite truck. This model of trucks is known to be a 3/4 tool truck. Freeride, Cruising/Carving, Downhill, and Sliding. The "Charger" is pretty tough and is two steps up from the "Mission".

The 4rth truck is the pro 3. These are old school if I've ever seen it. Very tough durable trucks used mainly for tricks and freeriding. These are great for lookouts, snaps, G-turns, and air.

The 5th and final truck of this post is the "Alpine". These trucks, again are not great trucks, but are okay for beginners. They have tight bushings and kingpin, making them safe for kids, however not great trucks.

Stay tuned for part 3, ~Kp15#

THE dream setup

---links and pics courtesy of muirskate--- the best skateshop on the planet!

i've been doing some searching for my dream setup. i think i've finally found it for myself and am looking forward to completing it. huzzah!

looking glass deck

this is a fantastic s9 cruiser deck. i'd recommend it for a first board for someone that doesn't plan to go 25+ mph.

with a double kingpin, turning on these babies is smooth as melting butter. you can carve amazingly with these things! they are great! when one kingpin turns all the way, the other one sets in and turns, too. it's an amazing technical discovery! take that albert einstein! no. seriously. they are good. :D

bones reds bearings

bones reds. arguably (not really everyone agrees haha) the best bearings for their low price. slap some of these red thingies and your wheels will turn forever. maybe not that long, but you get the point.

otang 'in heat' orange

i think these are some of the best wheels, honestly. they have the sharp lip design and they hug the ground. they're ideal for carving, but come in higher duros for sliding.

well that was one LONG post. now quit reading and go board!

Gullwing part 1

As you may know, I am a big fan of Gullwing Chargers. But I am here to tell you about the whole company. The company of Gullwing has many models of trucks: Mission, Charger, Sidewinder, Pro 3, Munkae, Alpine, Shadow DLX, and Stalker.

The Gullwing "Mission" is an okay beginner truck mainly for speed and downhill. If you are just starting out and looking for boards usually you would go for the "Mission 1". These trucks are not so good for more experienced riders because with soft material and turdish bushings, bigger riders will experience many speed wobbles.

The second truck is "The Sidewinder"(Sensation's trucks). This is a very effective carving truck due to the double kingpin. The "Sidewinder" is mounted into the deck twice making the first mount super flexible. These can be used with much heavier riders however if you put to much weight on one side you are bound to fall.

Da Gloves

hey

well i've done a bit of hunting around and i found these super awesome loaded slide gloves. i'm a noob, i know, i've never slid on a longboard before. i'm smart enough to know that sliding on gullwing sidewinders is a bad idea off the bat. i'm thinking that some slide gloves could help me slow down really fast if need be. or if i'm just cruising and i wanna hit a tight carve. it would be fun to experiment. here's a pic of the cool gloves

i like the neon a lot.

for my bday hopefully i can pick up a set of otangs 'in heat' orange. that'd be sick for my cruising setup i bet! i ordered some softer bushings too. dream setup here i come! geronimooo!

ESW v. LG

hey

i've been debating whether to save up for the earthwing super model or the legendary mini gnome. the super model is much longer, but i heard it's a great board for cruising and downhill. the gnome is just an epic looking board and it has a cool shape too.

my current problem is that my looking glass is super stiff. when you jump on it, it's like jumping on concrete. i'm a tiny dude and it's killing my ankles and stuff riding on bad pavement with my looking glass. i really hope the gnome is flexy. that would totally sell me on buying that. however, i haven't found any legit info saying that it's flexy enough for me being 80 lbs.

i've only read good things about the super model. it's supposedly a sick downhill board and can be great at cruising and pumping. cross stepping at the moment is hard on a 34 inch board, and i'm also hoping that a longer deck will improve my robotic cross-stepping.

hopefully i can earn the cash and then i'll really get down into the deciding stages.

wish me luck!

Boca Surf And Sail

I was really bummed yesterday not getting the board but relieved to find a new board on Nord's I like. So today I went into this cool place in Boca called Boca Surf and Sail. They had a Sector9-Sea Shepherd complete with my personal faves Gullwing Chargers, and I was messing around on it. They Don't carry Arbor but they have plenty of nice S9's. So I ask the guy what do you know about Gullwing Chargers . He tells me that Gullwings are pro quality and that Chargers are great all-around trucks and they are really tough.

He opens up the cabinet and pulls out a Rasta Charger. I notice they carry the whole line of Gullwings, a few Paris's, and some others I couldn't see. They also had a huge selections of skatepacks, shoes, and surfboards. I'm impressed with Boca Surf and Sail.

New Ideas

I originally was planning on starting off with a Sector9 complete, a quad30. I have changed my mind. After my unsatisfying day at Island Water Sports, I ended up saying thank God I didn't get it.
I looked on Nord's Boards and found an Arbor complete 31.75 GB sizzler with rasta colored Gullwing Chargers and cheap Rush trucks that are ABEC9! I am really hoping my mom promotes of this.

Daytime Radness was fun

hallo

well, just got back from a fun day. at 9:00 am, we got to IWS. i had a full pocket of cash. as soon as we went, i ran and bought a green electric backpack, and some bones reds bearings.

as soon as i got home macpac helped me put on the bearings. they're good. the red is great. we loaded our bags with water bottles, towels, and some board shorts. we long boarded around the 'hood and then bombed down a bridge. it was sick.

we went to the beach, and the water was great but the wind was howling. macpac skim boarded while i sat in the water and got trucked by waves. it was cold.

a pretty good day

I hate Island Water Sports!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On IWS's website there is a poster for Daytime Radness selling longboards for $99. So my mom gives me a $100 dollar bill and I say, "Well, this won't cut it for tax." So I bring my wallet with $58 bucks in it for shoes and leftover price of the longboard. I go in after I waited in line for an hour even after I cut line to go wait with Sensation and other friends. I pick out an Arbor, though it had Gullwing Mission 1's, It felt nicer than Bacon in syrup. So it says $180 on the board. I ask a guy what it would cost on sale: $140. WHAT?! It said on the website $99, but i just smile and say thanks. This dude obviously Doesn't know what he's talkin' about. I ask another guy,"Aout $147."
WHAT?! Ahh whatever I can still afford it. I go wait in another hour-long line to get to the counter. "That'll be 162." WHAT?! Seriously it goes from $99 to $140 to $147 to $162. Whatever. I grab my wallet,$158. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! YOU SUCK, ISLAND WATER SPORTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Arbor

This company is amazing. The maple deck, the imported wood. This is Arbor, possibly the finest l longboard ever. Ranging from 28 to 43in. Bearings being standard at 5 APEC, however with Gullwing Chargers specializing in carving and turning. What I'm talking about is the Arbor Hybrid 38". A great board I am also looking to find at "Daytime Radness"at Island Water Sports.

Cross-stepping

I don't own this video in anyway

i learned to cross-step today. the first couple tries were terrible-- they usually ended up with my on the ground. finally after lots of experimenting, i found it.

up top is a video i found on the 'tube about cross-stepping. i certainly learned a bunch from it. here are some additional tips that could help:

1. whenever you decide to cross with your foot, put your weight on the foot that will stay planted on the board

2. keep trying (doh) you don't know how many times i failed this trick. i kept trying a KA-BAM success!

3. IF you are crossing with your back foot first, slide your front foot back on the board a bit. this helps give you some extra room to place your foot

4. use quick movements, being a sloth makes it harder to balance. don't rush, but try to have some fluidity in your crossing.

good luck!

Hill Bombing

Over the past month, i have found quite a few hills. Me and my friend, Devin found 4 nice hills just in his neighborhood. Alright who wants to hear me talk? Basically I am saying,"You don't need much to bomb hills. Grab a board and find the nearest hills with some height and length and you can practically carve in your own neighborhood streets."

When you are going down hills don't be an idiot. Wear a helmet. I don't know about you, but i would rather live than look cool. Also, if you feel like you are falling off, jump off the FRICKING board!!! Don't try to make it down the hill if you got speed wobbles, once again I would rather live than look cool. As you can tell I'm very strong on this topic because I hate when people "pose" and then get injured.

Signed with strong hatred of posers,~Kp15#

If this guy wasn't wearing a helmet his brains would be spilled out.

Mainly Cruising

So far I've mostly been cruising the neighborhood and stuff. I've gone down a few hills, not many. I'm mainly cruising nowadays and just trying to find a good spot to downhill.

Cruising has definitely been a blast considering my double gull wing sidewinder trucks. With the twitch of a muscle my double kingpin things turn like butter. It's been fun. Hopefully I'm going boarding on Friday too.
